8 Days a Week

The last few weeks have felt like the longest ever.  The end of school.  Gearing up for the wedding.  I’m so glad school is out on Friday.  I’ve had my most difficult classes already and now, it’s the downhill slide.  Clean up the classroom, pack it away for the summer and get the hell outta Dodge.

I had my first fitting for my wedding dress yesterday.  The more I wear the dress, the more I love it.  I feel so pretty when I wear it.  And with the alterations, it’ll fit me like a glove.  We still have a lot to do, organizing basically 4 days of events prior to and after the wedding.  Because we have so many people coming from out of town and the rehearsal has to be on the 3rd, we’re having a 4th of July BBQ and a brunch the day after the wedding.  It’ll be busy but worth it.

We drove up to Yosemite on Saturday.  We woke  up to a light drizzling of rain that I hoped would disappear.  Alas, it did not and in fact, turned to snow flurries over Crane Flat.  The valley was packed and the views weren’t the greatest.  We will definitely be going back this summer.  If nothing else, so Rob can see Half Dome.

Other than that, all is well at Casa de Crazy.

Irritated

I am so frustrated.  Today, I loathe and love my job all at the same time.  Some of my colleagues just rise to the challenge and when I’m on the ledge, they just are awesome.  I spent the majority of my prep with Brad, another English teacher, and it was one of those days where I walked into his room and burst into tears.  It wasn’t even kids that pushed me over the edge.  It was stupid, pedantic crap in my department.  It’s the kind of stuff that makes me very, very glad it’s late May and not October or I’d have someone’s heart on a stake.  Raw and still pulsating.  Very Temple of Doom.  You get the idea.  I’m not a crier at work.  I despise women who are faucets at work, crying over every little dilemma that comes up.  But today?  Today was enough to just push me over the edge.

I haven’t been sleeping well since I hurt my back last weekend.  We’ve been rotating between who sleeps in the guest room and who gets the good bed.  Even on the weekend, I didn’t feel like I had a great night’s rest.  Turning over was painful until last night but then, I had twitchy legs (which Rob calls my happy feet) and could not fall asleep.  It was after midnight before I could even lay down and not have the overwhelming urge to turn over or twitch.  Add my lack of sleep to inane work crap, wedding/family stress, with a dash of smart mouthed freshmen and it will all total a very tightly wound me.  I’m a lot of fun to live with right now.  I’m not a lot of fun to be around, period.

Is it Friday yet?

Shower

I had one of my bridal showers on Saturday and it was such a lovely afternoon.  My aunts and cousins all gathered at my aunt’s house for brunch, presents and cake.  I got many lovely gifts, some from our registry, some not.  The nicest part was just having a party in my honor!  It’s not often that people gather for a party for a special occasion and spoil me rotten.  I could get used to this…

My back is still not 100% but it’s getting better.  Sitting is hardest and unfortunately, I’ve done a lot of sitting at work.  We haven’t done a lot lately so not much to write about.  Kind of a boring week or so.

My Aching Back

So I have a bad back.  It’s twingy sometimes and on Sunday, it decided to spasm.  I spent most of yesterday in bed or on the floor and in pain.  Rob again was my hero, massaging it, helping me get to the toilet, getting me into and out of bed.  I’m better today but not even close to 100%.  At least I can get up and down and pee without help.  I took the day off yesterday and of course, my classes were rotten for the sub.  Some days I wonder why I even bother being gone because I know they will just misbehave.  Today, it’s reward the good though because I’m done punishing the bad.
