It’s A Smaller World

So last night Kristi and I were talking about how communication has changed so much in thirty years. This was after a successful video Skype call with Uncle Leo and Aunt Marty back in Kansas City, a thoroughly enjoyable experience that we plan to repeat soon.

If you’re old enough, think back to 1986. The early-to-mid-eighties were really a tipping point for technology in America. Computers in the home. The very first cellular phone tech started hitting the market. Music devices that produced flawless sound using lasers. There was this strong sense that the future wasn’t quite here yet, but would be strolling by at any moment.

Rediscovering Roots

It’s the album I keep coming back to. Home and unpacked, gathering ourselves back into work routines and email flow, back in California after a long weekend visiting family in Missouri. My mind keeps turning to the album that we brought back with us, the photos of my parents and grandparents and great-grandparents, snapshots of lives going back almost a century.

Hectic and Harried

Kristi Written by Kristi

The last several weeks have been a bit crazy around here.  The business is growing like mad; 3 new corporate clients have signed with us in the last 2 weeks.  These are major, well-known brands in technology and telecommunications and I am immensely proud of how Rob has managed these opportunities.  It’s wonderful how we have been blessed the last 3 years in the business.  There were times when we thought, right, we’re done with this but God has provided time and time again.  I’m continually amazed.

Waiting

Kristi Written by Kristi

So break my step and relent
You forgave and I won’t forget
Know what we’ve seen and him with less
Now in some way shake the excess
But I will wait, I will wait for you.

Sometimes.. sometimes there is a song that reaches into exactly how I’ve been feeling and shakes me.  I hit repeat and let it wash over my thoughts.

But I’ll kneel down, wait for now
I’ll kneel down, know my ground
Raise my hands, paint my spirit gold
And bow my head, keep my heart slow

The last 5 weeks have been a lesson in waiting and being bold.  It’s terrifying and comforting at the same time.  I have no idea how to make sense of it with words.  But there it is.  I’ve been frustrated, relieved, incredulous, annoyed and just plain confused.  But I will keep waiting for the answers to come because I know they will.  I don’t pretend to know the way forward; in fact, all I’ve said for the last month is that I don’t know what comes next.  But there is no rushing past God, no manufactured crisis or manipulation that can out-maneuver what He has planned.

So for now, we wait.

So I’ll be bold, as well as strong
And use my head alongside my heart.
So take my flesh and fix my eyes
That tethered mind free from the lies.
