I haven’t posted in a while because it’s been a whirlwind several days and now I’m still in the settle-into-a-new-life thing. We spent today spending the gift cards we were given and returning a few duplicate gifts. I’m still completely in awe of the generosity of our friends and family over the last several weeks.
There were some people I forgot to thank at the wedding, people who worked behind the scenes and were the reason we were able to pull off such a great day.
Jason Varan: Emily’s husband worked like a dog for the whole time he was here. He videotaped the ceremony for us, helped set up the arch we were married under, lugged chairs and tables around, hung out with Rob’s brother. We were just so blessed by him being around and working.
Heather Morganson: My friend who was a candlelighter ran so many errands for me while we were gone on our honeymoon. She returned the candleabras and cake stand, brought lunch for the bridal party to my mom’s house, photgraphed tons, took all the gifts home to my mom’s, helped us haul tables and chairs. We could not have done this without her. Thank you, Heather. You are a wonderful friend.
Andy Taylor: My cousin who performed the wedding was funny, calming, sincere, and the perfect person to marry us. We are so thankful he came up from San Diego, spent time preparing us for marriage and put us at ease on what could have been a very stressful day.
My parents’ Bible study group, the Evans, Foxes, Bensons and Armstrongs: They provided our rehearsal dinner for 40 people with aplomb. They worked tirelessly behind the scenes on the day of the rehearsal and when the party was winding down, they quietly slipped out. I am forever thankful for what they did for us.
My cousin Jason Herrera: Jason has been my resident housesitter for the last few years and he stepped up again while we were on our honeymoon to housesit for Ruca and Samson. Our pets are notoriously high maintenance so I’m grateful Jason has yet to run screaming from my phone number showing up on his caller ID.
My entire family. Not just my parents but my aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents, but my extended family who traveled from New York, Washington, southern California, and the Bay Area to be a part of our wedding celebration. It was incredible to see all 13 of my mom’s cousins gathered on the country club patio for a photo. It was the first time they had all be together in years. Having that circle of family around made the day even more special.
There wasn’t anything I’d change about the day. The weather was perfect, I felt like a princess and I didn’t cry until I said my vows. The enormity of the situation suddenly hit me when I said I take Rob as my wedded husband. Husband. HUSBAND. Holy crap I’m saying those words I’ve heard countless times and this time, it’s ME saying them to HIM and I AM GETTING MARRIED. So yeah, momentary emotional tears. When I have more time to collect my thoughts, I will write a play by play of the week. I’m still absorbing everything and enjoying being Mrs. Warren.

I hope you guys had a great honeymoon!
I’m looking forward to seeing the pictures (be sure to email me them).
The wedding was beautiful and went of smoother than any wedding that I have been a part of. Thank you for inviting me to be a part of it!
We will! Thank you for everything you did. It meant a lot to me that you were standing there with me when I got married. And your toast was perfect!
Disa, we were both very touched and grateful that so many people – especially you and Chris, the best man – were there and played such important roles in our wedding. And your toast indeed was perfect, especially since you didn’t know until that morning that we were doing toasts!
