2012 was a strange year. Our business continues to thrive and I’m amazed by Rob’s ability to keep a million balls in the air at once. Our family is thriving and growing, healthy and happy.
So here’s rundown of 2012:
- we reconnected with Rob’s grandmother, uncle and aunt. We have been beyond blessed by these relationships and spending time together was one of the highlights of the year.
- we vacationed with my extended family in Ventura for a week. What an amazing gift to have relationships with my cousins, aunts and uncles. We laughed, ate well, competed fiercely and shared our lives again.
- we left our church. This was painful beyond belief and while I feel like we’ve started to heal, it’s still a source of pain. We miss people we’ve worked closely with but the betrayal and harsh things that were said about me cut deeply. It will be a while before I’m able to let go. I keep reminding myself forgiveness is a process. 2 steps forward, 3 steps back.
- we said good-bye to Laura. I still miss her smiling face. And now our sweet Bethany will be leaving to join her in Ukiah and that is cause for more sadness. We rejoice in their new life but still.. gah.
- we traveled to Key West for a much needed break in the sun. Rob was sick the entire time but we needed the rest. It was warm, restful, quiet.
- we welcomed new babies.. Emme Grace and Landon Jason to our family. Our nephew Ryan grew like a weed and is walking, running, giggling and starting to talk. Natalie, our niece, continues to light up a room with her laughter and vivacious chatter.
- we visited with friends near and far. Joy and Lamar, Bethany and Laura, Brad, Anne and Jamie, Disa and Jason. What a blessing to us to have friends who support us, cry and laugh with us and enrich our lives so completely.
- we read great books, saw some really bad movies, and played more video games than we should have.
- we had a few health issues with the zoo.. Samson had a few hot spots, an infection and a bum thyroid, Ruca also had a skin infection. Too many trips to the vet this fall but everyone is finishing up the year healthy, playful and in Sam’s case, curled up on his bed snoring loudly.
May 2013 be a year of new beginnings, continued blessings and health.
