The kitchen wrapped up nicely and we’re firmly moved back in. The mess is mostly cleaned up, just a few things to put outside in the garage. We spent the weekend at the cabin with Lamar, Joy and Baby Solace. It was beautiful up there, even with hail and rain during the night. Getting away for just a few days was refreshing and long overdue.
And So The Saga Concludes.
Late last week, the last contractors arrived to do the finishing work on our new kitchen: some wood trim, base boards, paint, remounting light switches, moving things back into place. By Friday night, the fridge and chef’s table were finally liberated from our makeshift camp kitchen in our old home office, returned to their accustomed kitchen locations. The project manager came by to get a good look at everything, to make sure that it was all done and that we were happy.
Friday was a good day. We got our kitchen back, a large check we’ve been waiting for finally arrived, we have a regular and busy workflow at the moment, and it’s finally raining here in Northern California.

Yea, Come Bask In The Blue
A thing you learn after writing for a handful of years is that there’s a big difference between writing about an experience, and writing as an experience. Form and function interplay, and before too long the story you’re telling is a life experience all by itself. So sometimes you have to be cognizant of the experience you’re dragging your readers along for.
That’s my convoluted way of saying that you’re stuck with another kitchen post. I know you’re as sick of this saga as we are, but we’d be selfish to keep all these joys and tribulations to ourselves. And so, here’s another chapter.
