So we haven’t updated about our ongoing kitchen saga because until the week before Christmas, not a thing happened.
Our plumber finished the repair work; the drain line was snaked twice to clear multiple blockages. The plumber came back to install the plumbing needed for our new dishwasher! YES! We are joining the 21st century and adding a much longed for dishwasher. (My parents have been beyond generous for my 40th birthday and Christmas this year. Best. Gift. Ever.)
The Friday before Christmas, our contractor was here with the cabinet guy to measure and get a better idea of what work would need to be completed. The original tile backsplash will be gutted, as will the rest of the floor. We found a few important omissions on the insurance agent’s work order (like only $500 for our floor.. and nothing about placing hardware on the cabinets). We will be getting all new tile on the counters, new flooring, paint on all 4 walls and all cabinetry.
The day before Christmas, a plumber showed up and delivered a temporary kitchen sink. What a glorious Christmas gift to be able to wash up dishes and cook again in our kitchen! We’ve been eating mostly at my parents’ house since all this started but now that we can do dishes more efficiently, it’s easier a bit easier to cook here.
For all those who think our house is still so pulled together.. allow me to show you the trainwreck that is our former home office. It’s not fun but we’re surviving.
