Books and Being Arty

Most people know we like to read.  A lot.  We have piles of books, boxes of books, shelves full in our room, the guest room, the office.  I’ve added a new page to R&K this week, Books We’ve Read. I’m looking forward to adding more to it and updating it with what we’re currently reading.

Over the last 6 months or so, we’ve often struggled with maintaining our creativity.  It’s weird when you work in a creative field, you’re always making things for other people and it rarely leaves time to do things for yourself.  As a result, we can find our reserves depleted and we’re mentally exhausted.  Rob has recently taken to doing some creative writing at night on  his typewriter and he’s getting back into the groove.

When we were engaged, I tried doing a 365 blog where I took photos every day for a year.  I think I did it for about 70 days before I felt like I was running out of stuff to photograph and gave up.  I’m trying to get back into taking pictures again because I really captured some beautiful things in 2008 that I’d forgotten about.  I don’t want to forget about 2012.

We have great things coming up this year.  Another family trip to Ventura, seeing some people we haven’t seen in a long, long time this fall and hopefully a summer full of the Farmer’s Market, concert in the park, and whatever work may bring.
